Forecast Discussion:
The winds yesterday did kick up some dust causing PM10 to reach the mid Moderates at the West 43rd monitor. Ozone and PM2.5 on the other hand, ended up in the Good AQI range. Looking ahead, weather conditions are forecast to settle down through the weekend. With these calmer conditions, ozone is forecast to trend back up into the low Moderates, while particulate levels are forecast to stay in the Good AQI range.
Heading into next week, there will be another weather system moving through the region bringing strong, gusty winds to the area. The winds will likely cause some more dust to get kicked up, causing PM10 to reach well into the Moderates on Monday. On Tuesday, winds will still be breezy, but not quite as strong as Monday. Therefore, we are forecasting lower Moderates on Tuesday for PM10. The breezy conditions on Monday and Tuesday will also improve ventilation, which should lower ozone into the Good range.
